| I interviewed with SerpApi recently and feel compelled to share my experience.
The interview left me pretty frustrated. After multiple rounds and what felt like good conversations, I got a generic rejection with zero feedback. When I asked for some insight on what I could improve, I was basically told “we don’t do that.”
The process included a take-home assignment they claimed would take around 4 hours – which is a significant time investment, especially with no feedback afterward.
Additionally – I keep seeing these monthly HN posts (this is what, the third or fourth consecutive month?), which makes me wonder how serious they actually are about hiring. Are they really bringing people on, or just constantly fishing?
The remote-first setup and tech stack seemed cool, and I liked what I heard about the transparency values. But honestly, that transparency didn’t extend to their hiring process at all.
